Don’t believe for a moment they are interested in ‘dialogue’ for this is not the first time their forums have bemoaned our Rankin Square Monument in Franklin… they
smell blood across the Southland.*************************************************

Dear Ms. MaryElla,
I don’t trust them either. However, we do have in North Carolina a monument protection Bill. I hope to be back from Texas so that I might attend anyhow. God bless you!

G’morning Brother,
I trust you had a splendid time in TX! And how wonderful you had the opportunity to meet Mr Arnold! It has been really special to follow his journey, as he pulls back
the layers of misinformation and discovers more about his ancestor ‘Pappa Turner’.Just wanted to update you in the Franklin Open Forum meeting Monday evening. Several Jackson Rangers and my Cuzin Riley Henry and Beth and I were in attendance. Before
the start, the moderator assured us that the notice in the paper had lead to some “fake news” assumptions. That this meeting was not for the purpose of discussing the
Franklin Monument and that if anyone was drawn there under false pretenses, they should not feel compelled to sit through the meeting. Only one gentleman chose to leave.I was glad that the rest stayed, because obviously community meetings are where opinions and consensus are gathered before approaching and finding like-minded, local
politicians to push through their agendas. So it was good to have many defenders of preserving our historical landmarks. With so many supporters of the monuments present, only one or two folks who are offended by history and happy to see the NOLA removals. I was quite surprised that most
of the regular attendees seemed oblivious to the snowball effect (though many landmarks have been targeted for years, focus groups and politicians clearly smell blood
across the South since NOLA debacle!). When it was my time to speak, I assured the group that far from being fake news and contained to NOLA, there has been, and continues
to be, widespread calls for removal of landmarks. Many others shared facts not taught in government schools or seen in Hollywood movies or media outlets.I don’t believe we’ve heard the last about this, as the topic of the Franklin Monument had been mentioned at past meetings as noted by a Confederate sister who happened
to be in attendance. It will be necessary to remain vigilant…
Your devoted Tarheel sister,
MaryElla

To: “M.e. Fitzy” (mejnc55@gmail.com)Dear Ms. MaryElla,
Thanks for the update on Franklin. I had hoped to be there; however, I am just returning from Texas. I did have a splendid time there, even after a group of so called
Black Lives Matter showed up, and were escorted away by the fine Ft. Worth Police. I hope to report on my last two months when I catch my breath. I will speak to the
Republican’s Mens Club Meeting on Saturday morning, June 10, 2017, at Ryans on Brevard Rd. in Asheville. And, I shall ask them to ask the President for help in stopping
the purge of our historical memorials in the South. God bless you!Your brother,
HK
