I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! My name is Rashaan Ayesh, and I am a journalism student at UNC-Chapel Hill. I am currently working on a story about why Silent Sam, a Confederate statue, should remain on our campus and the voices that support that.
I would love an opportunity to ask you a few questions about the matter.
My questions are mostly about why Silent Sam should stay, questions about the history of the Confederacy, and your response to those saying it is a symbol of white oppression.
This is for a class assignment. My deadline for this story is this Thursday at 9:30AM.
I would really appreciate a chance to speak with you if you have the time, of course.
Feel free to respond via email or call me at (919)601-6548.
Thank you for your time,
Rashaan Ayesh
