Subject: Greetings, FINALLY
Hello Mr. Edgerton,
After reading a length article about you a few years ago, I tried desperately to get in touch with you. If I am not mistaken, I made it as far a your brothers office ? I think that I was told that he was an attorney in Ashville ? I cannot remember.
Anyway,…..I just want for you to know how much of an honor it is to finally get the chance to tell you how proud i am of you for standing for truth in honoring the memories of so many of my ancestors who fought for the Confederacy. My 3rd Great Grandfather of the 35th Georgia Infantry who fought in A.P. Hill’s Light Division , Thomas’ Brigade had black Confederate soldiers who fought bravely and honorably for the Confederacy.
I was so angry when I read of how you have been openly attacked and even assaulted while carrying the Confederate Battle flag on your trip a few years ago. I was so blown away at your open display of loyalty, honor and integrity as to braved the attacks in honor of the memories of my ancestors and for truth. God Bless You and your family. It is truly an honor to finally have the opportunity to tell you, even if only through a written message.
Please look at my “Confederate Family Heritage” Photo album on my Face Book page. I have LOTS of pictures and such on there. …I just thought that I would add, …My father was raised by “Big Mama,” his grandmothers sister. She was one of the last surviving widows of the Confederacy. Her husband fought Sherman in Atlanta. She died in 1960,…A VERY old woman.
God Bless You,
Stephen “Mark” Strickland
