Dear Ms. Lunelle,

It should made clear that any man, or any gathering of any man, in any century who would blaspheme, or destroy, a Memorial to the Honorable General Robert E. Lee should be considered diabolical and a legion of the Antichrist.

Though General Lee may have been an exceptional warrior, his whole life was renowned for piety and virtue, as asserted by all men who came in contact with him, be they freed or indentured, north or south of the Mason Dixon, or whether they be a combatant or a soldier under his command.

To not honor him and his memory, and arguably those like Jackson, Forest, Morgan and Cleyburne who did all they could do to follow his life example is the most diabolical immolation now being conjured up by those who hate the South, and have used the actions of a deranged young man, Dylan Roof, as the vehicle to do so.

And, on a personal note, I shall follow the charge as laid down by his body servant, the Honorable Rev. Mack Lee, who was amongst those Africans his wife inherited, and who General Lee would later free (though none would leave his home) and who would follow the general into battle, educate himself off the funds General Lee would give him, start the first credit union in America to help those Africans who, after the War, found themselves free, started churches in both the North and Southlands of America and would tell his people to buy some land, get themselves educated, keep their faith in the Almighty God, and trust only the the Southern White man. And, I will urge the African people in the 21st century, as he did in his, to do the same. God bless you!

Your brother,
