Part 3 of 3, A Journey
Dear Ms. Lunelle,
As we made our way to Sarasota, Florida, to an event that would showcase Candace Owens as the keynote speaker. Candace is a young black woman who has come to fame as a defender and supporter of President Trump and the Republican Party.
The hope of our group was that she would take an interest in our veterans monuments, and speak out more loudly than she already had on this issue, as her family is from my home state of North Carolina.
I had been led to believe that I was going to an event where I would have the ear of this young woman, who has the ear of President Trump. But instead, our group, including me, was not provided the promised access and our table was relegated to being “token spooks’ who sat by the door for the Republican Party, this time at Manatee County’s Republican Party’s 2019 Lincoln Day Dinner.
But, had I been avail of this, I would have asked her to ask the President to pardon the young man who, out of fear for the lives of so many, would cause the death of a young woman in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the reason I felt the justification to do so.
I would also have asked her to ask President Trump for help from his Attorney General, as the rule of law for Southern people who now fight the carnage and sacrilege upon our culture and the Cenotaphs of our fallen dead led by the fake News Media, transplants from the North who have come to our homeland skinning and grinning, and manipulating their way on our boards, commissions and councils while carrying out the charge laid down by Thaddeus Stephens to punish the South.
And not to forget the Southern scalawags who have gladly given in, in complicity just like Judas of Iscariot did against Jesus.
I keep telling black folks that this Republican Party is not the same radical Republican Party that sold them out, and used them against the Southern White man during the days of reconstruction. And even more so as that period began to wane. And that it is not the same radical Republican Party that their ancestors told them to never join. Yet, I am offended that Southern politicians would celebrate anything in the name of Lincoln, as were you as you boldly wore a special photograph around your neck in silent protest.
I am offended that the new Governor of Florida would tout Florida as a Veteran-friendly…no, the foremost Veteran friendly state in the Union. That is a lie!
He, just like Kathleen King, chair of the Republican Party of Manatee County, who would voice the same lie to those gathered in Sarasota, should come clean and tell the people how, in this so-called Veteran friendly state, the third state to secede from the union, would rather see all Veteran Cenotaphs vandalized, or destroyed, like what happened to the Confederate Cenotaph in Manatee County. Just like the Tuskegee Veterans monument; rather than protect the Cenotaph of the Confederate military who, too, is an American Veteran so deemed by the United States Congress, and due any amenities of any other American Veteran.
And let us not forget the crucifixion of the Honorable State Representative Mike Hill because, as a black man, he would sponsor a bill that would protect these Veterans, not to even mention the “Heartbeat Bill” that would protect the life of a newborn baby.
I, for one, will not succumb to playing games with this legislative body to hide the desire to protect the Cenotaphs and honorable legacies of men like the Honorable General Kirby Smith, whose Cenotaph should never have been slated for removal from Statuary Hall in the Nation’s Capitol. And any Southern black who would sanction this move is no better than the reconstruction blacks that severed the ties of love between Southern black folks and Southern white folks during the period of so called reconstruction.
No son or daughter of the future must doubt the nobility of purpose of the purity of the motives of the gallant men, descendants of the Cavalier who went fearlessly to their death in defense of their conception of justice and right. Their heroic courage and lofty self-sacrifice commanded the admiration of the world.
The fame of this Southern heroism is depicted in the Cenotaphs built by the Southern women to his charge. May God bless him, and may he some day rest in peace. God bless you!
