An Open Letter & Open Report / Silent Sam Collusion
December 3, 2019
Silent Sam Collusion
Miss Lunelle,
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, on the fastidious grounds of the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village in Dade City, Florida, one of the best War Between the States re-enactments would take place. For those who enjoy the family friendly events of the War Between the States re-enactments, this was the place to be.
The period fashion show sponsored by the Augusta Jane Evans Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy would begin the opening of the two day event. I would be honored to step in the role of the Honorable Holt Collier as a participant in the fashion show to the delight of the spectators.
The Pioneer Museum and Village is an Open Air Museum in Dade City, Florida. The museum complex includes Overstreet House, a one room schoolhouse, a church (ironically where I would give the vows to the renowned alligator hunter, the Honorable Phill Walters and his beautiful bride, several years prior), a train depot, a train engine and a museum exhibition of tools, household items, antiques and farm equipment.
On this day the Pioneer Florida Museum Living History and Battlefield Re-enactment would depict the hastily assembled Confederate units and its attempt to stop the Federal Army destruction of the salt works operations on the village grounds, and the retaking of the Salt Works factory. It Is important to note that salt was the life blood of the army. I was so proud to be in the role of the Brigade Color Guard during this battle.
I would encourage all to visit the Pioneer Village Museum, and enjoy a wonderful family oriented educational experience.
God bless you!
Your brother,
