Parades
Dear Ms. Lunelle,
As the stench of cowardice permeates the air from those domestic terrorists to spoil the Christmas spirit in my home state of North Carolina by threatening violence against the people if the Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy are allowed to march in their Christmas parades, I am sickened that our politicians and law enforcement officials would cave into their demands.
No matter what false narrative is placed upon our ancestors for their honorable stand in 1861, our Southern families response to those of us who don the uniform of the Southern soldier, or the ladies in period dress, whether it be in an Easter, Veterans Day, Christmas or Martin Luther King Day Parade, the ovation and display of love has no parallel.
And, I speak not from speculation, but from experience of that love from Charlottesville, Virginia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Savannah, Georgia; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; the Historic March Across Dixie and, this very year in the Christmas parades in Plant City and Zephyrhills, Florida. And, not to forget, last but not least, just this past Saturday, December 14, 2019, in the city of Seymour, Tennessee’s Christmas parade.
And may God bless those officials of Wake Forest, North Carolina, for having the guts to reverse their decision not to hold their time honored Christmas parade with the Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy participating.
And, I would be remiss in my duties if I did not mention the historical Christmas presentations given by the Florida Chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy as they opened the doors of the Gamble Mansion to their adoring public in the great state of Florida.
