Volunteers of the Florida Division, SCV and interested community members put finishing touches on the park
The Florida Division Sons of Confederate Veterans, Inc and local volunteers have been hard at work laboring to place the finishing touches on Confederate Memorial Park before it’s official dedication on Saturday, April 25, 2009. Plans for an elaborate dedication include guest speakers, period re-enactors, merchandise vendors, food vendors, live entertainment and a cannonade by historical muzzle loading field artillery pieces.
On the morning of Saturday, April 4, SCV volunteers and community members will be busy planting donated plants and arranging landscaping. With the current mild spring weather, we’re anticipating a lovely ambiance of foliage by the dedication date.
Headlining the entertainment for the dedication is Nashville recording artist Trey Jewell. Trey will provide lively country music starting at 1 pm for the thousands anticipated to attend the dedication ceremony on April 25. This event is free and the community is invited to celebrate this dedication ceremony honoring our Southern Veterans and the principals and honor they defended.
