NAACP Branch Readies for Confederate Flag Fight

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Somebody’s bored. With all the political and financial power it commands, the NAACP could tackle the problem of jobs being taken from blacks by Third-World workers. Or help their people confront the crime problem that terrorizes black communities.

Or they could just throw their weight around to prove they still can:

Members of the Miami-Dade branch of the NAACP want the Confederate flag banned from the Homestead-Miami Motor Speedway, and they will meet Thursday to decide whether to boycott a NASCAR race slated there for November.

Kudos to Sons of Confederate Veterans Commander Chuck McMichael, who knows how to stand up to bullies:

"The bottom line is I don’t think they should ban [Confederate flags] because there’s nothing wrong with them. It’s just people showing pride in their heritage."
