By: News 14 Carolina Web StaffMONROE, N.C. – A community meeting is set for Friday night to show support for saving Parkwood High School’s mascot, The Rebels.
Members of the NAACP say the mascot doesn’t fairly represent all the students on campus. A committee made up of parents, teachers and school administrators tried changing the mascot three years ago, but school surveys taken then and now show a majority of students said they want to keep the mascot.
Friday’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkwood High football stadium.
