Tsunami of Corruption & Economic Ignorance

10/19/2009Are You Ready to Say I’m Not Taking It any More?
With so many assaults on what we used to know as our constitution by some 34 new un-elected and mostly un-approved new czars in the newly formed government in Washington, more and more people are left wondering what they can do.
So that you might have some idea of myriad programs that have either been introduced and put in effect or some that are going through the formalities of some rigged approval process as only a dominating monopoly party can do, we are featuring news stories in our Hate Watch and Notable News categories at the heading of our website
Also note we are including second by second accounting of our national debt. Click the link and you will get a breakdown of the the various categories of debt. It might make you aware, if you’re not already, that the adminstration in Washington and the national news media for the most part is not telling the whole truth that you need to know.
"How big government gets that way: It takes over new turf in time of crisis, then hangs on to much of it after the crisis is over." –Fortune Magazine, describing Crisis and Leviathan, by Robert Higgs
"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." –Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Wall Street Journal CEO conference, Nov. 19, 2008
Some believe we are being set up for a financial collapse of such proportions that only a complete take over by a new order can ultimately restore some form of government. For those doubters, world history going back to biblical times is a reference point. Folks in my age range have witnessed it in the past century first hand in other places.
This nation has never experienced anything like the plight we find ourselves in—and it’s all self-inflicted. Prior to the recent presidential and congressional elections, we could never have imagined in our wildest nightmares that so-called Americans, even of the most liberal stripe would do, or attempt to do, what we are seeing take place before our very eyes.
In reviewing our meticulous, well-sourced postings in the GHC web links mentioned be forewarned you’re going to see evidence that your bank account is under heavy strain as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is now admitting it is broke and will be for several years in advance. Their main job is to guarantee bank deposits and accounts.
You’ll find evidence showing the very same people who caused the financial crisis the nation is in are being backed by the new administration to do the same type things they did to collapse our economy years ago, namely, issue mortgages to people who for the most part have questionable ability to maintain them, and at a down payment of three and half percent or less to buy as home.
Experts now predict the lending agency, FHA, the Federal Housing Authority, will go bust in a crash worse than Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which have been bailed out by more money than most of us could count in a lifetime.
"Our political economy is rife with such catastrophes in waiting, yet the public always seems startled, and outraged, when the day of reckoning can no longer be deferred, and another apartment collapses in the state’s Hotel of Impossible Promises, loading onto the taxpayers more visibly the burden of sheltering the previous occupants." –Robert Higgs, from Ticking Time Bomb Explodes, Public Is Shocked, 9/10/08
That was all part of a the monstrous Stimulus Plan that was supposed to put people back to work. Here’s the scorecard. Billions have been allocated, but each month millions more Americans lose their jobs. Unemployment has grown hovering around 10%. When we count the folks who have given up searching and benefits, and the underemployed, those who have taken lesser jobs to buy a few groceries, the number becomes 17% which is getting close to the numbers of the great depression.
Meanwhile, we continue to absorb more than a hundred thousand alien workers each month (1.3 million per year).
Part of this stimulus is going to programs such as just took place in Detroit where citizens can make application for a government cash bonus. Those who watch the interviews on TV couldn’t have missed the people applying stating the money was coming from Obama. Where does he get it they were asked. One said "He’s got it in his stash."
Note also the item where millions are being added to Pell grants so that applicants can enter beauty, cosmetology and masseuse training for $12,000 a year. More than tuition to the state university.
The problem is there are hundreds of experienced beauticians in the area who are among those who have lost their jobs because of the economy.
"Under current law, the federal budget is on an unsustainable path—meaning that federal debt will continue to grow much faster than the economy over the long run." –Summary, Congressional Budget Office Longterm Budget Outlook June 2009
Not long ago the Congressional Budget Office reportedly opined that somewhere around 50% of the money allocated in the federal budget is bound for corruption and fraud. (As they say, the ACORN doesn’t fall far from the Community Organizer tree.) This is consistent with General Accounting Office (GAO) audits of fraud in basic government purchases.
Think about it, if correct, a lot of crooks by whatever means are getting wealthy off our tax dollars. Despite promises to the contrary, virtually every program being foisted on the taxpaying public calls for huge increases in either taxes or costs which— when mandated by the government— are nonetheless taxes despite any semantics and sophistry to the contrary. [Define taxes ]
"When Medicare was launched in 1965, Part A was projected to cost $9 billion by 1990, but ended up costing $67 billion. When Medicaid’s special hospitals subsidy was added in 1987, it was supposed to cost $100 million annually, but it already cost $11 billion by 1992. When Medicare’s home care benefit was added in 1988, it was projected to cost $4 billion in 1993, but ended up costing $10 billion." –Cato Tax & Budget Bulletin, June 2009, "Will Obama Raise Middle-Class Taxes to Fund Health Care?"
Check out the various healthcare plans, Cap and Trade legislation, greatly accelerated plans to add thousands of federal workers to such programs as the Youth Corps, added enforcement for gun control along with increased efforts to police certain First Amendment rights (hate speech codes) as has been announced by the Department of Homeland Security in collaboration with the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti Defamation League.
If you’re not already mad as hell, see what they’re doing to senior citizens in cutting out roughly $400 billion from Medicare.
He that giveth can also taketh away. Especially when it’s not his money.
There are many substantiating articles and essays on these an other subjects under Hate Watch and Notable News at the very top of our GHC website. I hope you care enough to take a little time to follow the old railroad crossing admonition. Stop, Look and Listen.
God Save America.
"A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy, or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives." –James Madison
"…the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale." –Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Taylor, May 28, 1816.
"The country is filled with people who have been clueless about the economy for years. In fact, it’s worse: the country is being run by such people. There are few things you can be certain of these days. But one of them is that whatever Washington does with regard to the economy, it will be the exact opposite of what anyone with any sense would do." –Thomas E. Woods, Jr., Feb. 27, 2009
"Though written constitutions may be violated in moments of passion or delusion, yet they furnish a text to which those who are watchful may again rally and recall the people. They fix, too, for the people the principles of their political creed." –Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Priestley, 1802.
