Fraternity Investigated Over Confederate Battle Flag

5/03Jacksonville, AL (WIAT-TV) The display of a Confederate battle flag lands a fraternity under investigation.
The Kappa Alpha Order at Jacksonville State University has been asked to remove the symbol from inside their fraternity house.
Executive Director Larry Wiese says that under Kappa Alpha’s bylaws the depiction of the Confederate battle flag inside or outside fraternity property is prohibited based on the controversial symbolism of the banner.
"As a national college social fraternity we’re not in a position to fight that battle. And we follow the example of our spiritual father Robert E. Lee in trying to avoid giving offense."
Wiese adds that the JSU chapter will not be closed, but members will be educated on their charter’s bylaws.
