Too Sensitive

Posted February 3 2007I’ve read that a student wants to ban freedom of expression. This flag is a symbol
of my white Southern culture and I’m not about to let it be destroyed. My great-great-grandfather
was a non-slave-owning Southerner who fought with his brothers for the South.
Yes, slavery was an issue, but the flag was a symbol of the soldiers. You just can’t go around burying everyone’s culture because you have issues
with it. If you ban the Confederate flag, then you might as well ban other symbols
such as the Christian cross and the Jewish Star because these symbols offend
other cultures as well. The First Amendment is there for a reason. People need to stop being so sensitive.
