Small protest in Anderson County over Confederate flag

PALESTINE (KYTX) – A small group of people protested this morning at the Anderson County Courthouse.  The controversy in the Palestine area is over the confederate flag. The Anderson County commissioners court voted to fly an original Confederate flag at the courthouse for the month of April.

The demonstration is supposed to honor the 1000 confederate soldiers from Anderson County who fought in the Civil War, but some see the flag as negative and say it should not be flown.

The raising of the Confederate flag opened a ceremony this morning at eight.  Some say they will protest the flag raising.
