AUSTIN (KYTX) — The state of Texas is set to reconsider a specialty license plate that would feature the Confederate flag. The Texas Sons of Confederate Veterans, who designed the plate, say the goal is to remember Texans who died fighting in the Civil War. However, the president of the state’s NAACP chapter said the flag would be nothing less than humiliating and demeaning.
A state board rejected the plate recently on a tie vote, but promised to reconsider the plate in the next few months.
Several states already offer license plates that display Confederate flags.
