Lynchburg group working to preserve Civil War battle flag
The 11th Virginia Company "Lynchburg Home Guard" is raising money to get an original Confederate battle flag restored

Reporter/Lynchburg Bureau ChiefFOREST, Va. — Some Lynchburg residents are trying to restore a symbol of their heritage.
An original confederate battle flag is being stored at the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond. It’s 150-years-old and needs a lot of work.
Right now the flag is sitting in a basement, but a group of civil war reenactors in Lynchburg want to put it back on display.
The 11th Virginia Company "Lynchburg Home Guard" is raising money to get the flag restored.
They hope to get the repaired flag moved to the new Museum of the Confederacy that’s about to open in Appomattox.
"It’s not just one-sided history," said Kevin Shroyer, a reenactor with the 11th Virginia Company. "It’s southern history, it’s northern history, and ultimately American history."
