Davies Manor Plantation presents Civil War living history event

Re-enactors scattered the grounds at Davies Manor Plantation demonstrating the social, economic and living conditions of the Civil War era, June 16-17.
Spectators got a close-up look into the daily life of the Morning Sun settlement in June of 1862.
Living historians portrayed the civilians and military personnel who might have been in the town on June 30, 1862. On that date, 150 years ago, a small skirmish occurred.
It is documented that the residents of Davies Manor watched the passing of the supply train on its way to Memphis and heard the gunfire of the skirmish, which caused the mule teams to stampede.
During the two-day event — re-enactors portraying soldiers and townspeople of the Civil Era roamed the grounds and demonstrated life as it was during that time. Spectators also enjoyed shopping in the commissary and touring the Manor House.
Guests can visit Davies Manor Plantation, Tuesday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. The Manor House is open for tours through mid-December.
