Flaggers Gather in Haywood County, NC
A group of loyal confederates gave up their Tuesday morning to show support for the Confederate community by displaying flags in front of the Confedate Veterans Memorial in Waynesville, NC yesterday. They gathered to show their concern regarding the unstated policy of Haywood County officials to have small Confederate battle flags removed by county workers in front of the monument.Locals reported that flags had been disapperaing for some time, most likely by souvenir hunters. It was not until a county worker was spotted removing a flag that it became known that he had been directed by his bosses to remove the flag. Similar flags on the US Armed Services monuments were not addressed.Waving hands and honking horns were the norm throughout the 6 hour vigil. No one from the County Commission responded to the group.
