Battle Over Forrest Monument Comes to a Halt in Selma

By George McDonald

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom–  The protests and construction at the site of a confederate memorial in Selma have both come to a screeching halt.

Selma Mayor George Evans says supporters and opponents of the project have agreed to stop all action.

Evans says the halt will allow time to determine who owns the land in Live Oak Cemetery where the project is under construction.

The memorial includes a monument dedicated to the Confederate General Nathan Forrest.
