LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) – A few protesters from the Sons of Confederate Veterans protested at a rally for Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson in Lexington.

Members of the group are upset with Thompson and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney because of what they consider to be disrespectful remarks the candidates made about the Confederate flag last month.

Don Gordon with the Sons of Confederate Veterans says Thompson has been in Washington and Hollywood so long the former Tennessee senator has forgotten his Southern roots.
