AOL on Lincoln and Ron Paul

Posted by Thomas Woods at December 28, 2007

Given the nationalist agitprop that passes for American education, it’s a miracle that a third of respondents to this poll say Lincoln was wrong to have used force against his own people.

In the comment section, I wrote:

“I love the president-worship in which Americans have been trained to engage: their ‘great presidents’ are always brilliant, and 620,000 deaths is glorious, not a failure of statesmanship. The rest of the world finds this hilarious, by the way.

“Yes, Ron Paul could have given the rehearsed Romney answer you would all have preferred, but I for one prefer a non-plastic, non-mannikin. (And why isn’t ‘the war in Iraq must be fought to the end’ an ‘asinine’ comment, too?)”
